Operational analytics: first steps for growing organizations
You don’t need a data team to start measuring operations well. Where growing businesses should focus first.

Growing organizations often reach a point where intuition is no longer enough, but a full analytics function is not yet justified. This is the right time to establish a measurement foundation.
Pick a few core measures
For most operations, a handful of measures — on-time delivery, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, cycle time and cost per unit — cover most of what leaders need.
Make the data reliable
Agree definitions, identify sources and automate the extraction where possible. SQL and a well-structured Excel or Power BI model will carry many organizations a long way.
Use it every week
Embed the measures into a short weekly review. Consistency of use matters more than sophistication.
